Am. H.B. No. 111 Summary

• Changes third degree felony domestic violence from a felony of the fourth degree to a felony of the third degree when the offender has two or more prior domestic violence convictions or similar offenses.

• Creates a presumption in favor of imposing a prison term for third degree felony domestic violence convictions (previously discretionary sentencing).

• Increases mandatory prison terms for domestic violence offenses when the victim was pregnant at the time of the violation.

• Expands the definition of prior offenses that trigger enhanced sentencing to include violations of related statutes and offenses of violence where the victim was a family or household member.

• Amends sections 2903.215, 2919.25, and 2929.14 of the Revised Code regarding organization protection orders, domestic violence definitions, and sentencing guidelines.
