• Requires respondents subject to these orders to surrender all firearms and concealed handgun licenses to law enforcement within 48 hours; allows renewal of orders every 180 days and respondent hearings to terminate orders.

• Creates criminal penalties including misdemeanor charges for violating orders, felony charges for knowingly filing false petitions, and a 5-year firearm prohibition following order expiration.

• Amends existing firearm licensing laws to make individuals subject to extreme risk protection orders ineligible for concealed handgun licenses and requires sheriffs to revoke existing licenses upon receiving notice of such orders.
