H.B. 207 Summary

• Amends Chapter 993 (amusement rides) and Chapter 3749 (swimming pools) of Ohio Revised Code to clarify regulatory responsibilities for special use pools.

• Director of agriculture shall not adopt rules governing appurtenant facilities, surrounding areas, water quality, or disinfection of special use pools, but may regulate operation, components, structural integrity (including walls and floors with wave generating equipment), and physical safety.

• Department of health and local boards of health retain responsibility for regulating appurtenant facilities, surrounding areas, water quality, and disinfection of special use pools under Chapter 3749.

• Prohibits special use pool regulations from being subject to sections 121.95 to 121.953 of the Revised Code concerning the regulatory restriction review process.

• Adds "special use pool" definition to amusement ride regulations and clarifies that catch pools or tanks used with special features for bathing or swimming are included in the definition.
