All school buses purchased, owned, leased, or rented by schools or school districts must be equipped with type 2 seat belt assemblies (conforming to federal standard 49 C.F.R. 571) within five years of the law's effective date

Each bus must have sufficient seat belts to allow every transported student to use a separate restraining device

Applies to public school districts (city, exempted village, local, joint vocational) as well as community schools, STEM schools, college-preparatory boarding schools, and both chartered and nonchartered nonpublic schools

Ohio State Highway Patrol will enforce compliance through existing school bus inspections conducted under section 4511.761 of the Revised Code
