H.B. No. 303 Summary

• The state board of emergency medical, fire, and transportation services shall establish a process allowing any person to submit a petition requesting topics be added to training or continuing education programs for first responders, EMTs-basic, EMTs-I, or paramedics beyond those specified in section 4765.16 of the Revised Code.

• Petitioners may not seek to add broad categories of topics and must submit petitions in the manner prescribed by the board.

• The board shall review petitions and approve or deny the addition of topics in accordance with rules adopted under section 4765.11 of the Revised Code.

• Upon approval of a topic, the board shall require it to be included in training or continuing education programs and adopt rules specifying the number of hours required for the topic.

• Regulatory restrictions in rules adopted under this section are exempt from sections 121.95 to 121.953 of the Revised Code.
