H.B. No. 362 Summary

• Establishes new practice framework for certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) allowing them to perform anesthesia-related nursing activities in "consultation" with physicians, podiatrists, or dentists rather than requiring direct supervision and immediate presence.

• Permits CRNAs to perform expanded clinical support functions including selecting, ordering, and administering treatments, drugs, and intravenous fluids without immediate on-site supervision by the consulting provider.

• Allows dentists and podiatrists to consult with CRNAs without restrictions on permit status, and prohibits regulatory boards from preventing such consultation arrangements.

• Requires consultation providers and care settings to document in patient records when they restrict certain CRNA activities and when CRNAs perform authorized activities.

• Repeals previous sections 4723.433, 4723.434, and 4723.435 governing CRNA supervision and enacts a new section 4723.433 defining consultation requirements and practice limitations.
