H.B. 506 Summary

• School districts, nonpublic schools, community schools, STEM schools, and college-preparatory boarding schools that elect to obtain overdose reversal drugs must adopt policies regarding maintenance and use at each school facility.

• Required policies must conform to section 3715.50 requirements, establish supply amounts per school, require secure yet accessible storage, and specify any required employee training on drug maintenance and use.

• Schools must report use of overdose reversal drugs to the Department of Education and Workforce as soon as practicable after emergency administration.

• School district boards of education and all covered school types may accept monetary donations from any person to purchase overdose reversal drugs.

• All school types must comply with the same policy requirements established for school districts, treating charter schools, nonpublic schools, community schools, STEM schools, and college-preparatory boarding schools equivalently.
