Expands the definition of "peace officer" in Ohio law to include bailiffs of municipal courts and probation officers appointed by municipal, county, or common pleas courts.

Increases penalties for assault against judges, magistrates, prosecutors, court officials, and court employees from a misdemeanor of the first degree to a felony of the fifth degree as the base offense.

Raises the penalty to a felony of the fourth degree if the offender previously has been convicted of one or more assault or homicide offenses committed against justice system personnel.

Applies enhanced assault penalties when the victim is engaged in performance of official duties and the offender knows or has reasonable cause to know the victim's status as a court official or employee.
