Department of Education and Workforce, in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, shall develop a list of evidence-based curricula, materials, programs, and instructional strategies for drug abuse, marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco instruction that school districts may utilize.

School districts must provide annual, developmentally appropriate instruction on the harmful effects of and legal restrictions against drugs of abuse, marijuana, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco, including electronic smoking devices, with information on how both short-term and chronic use of illicit substances to alter mood is harmful to individual health.

Department of Education and Workforce shall conduct a survey of school districts beginning no later than one year after the bill's effective date to assess compliance with the drug and substance abuse instruction requirements and publish results within 60 days of survey completion.

Parents and legal guardians may examine instructional materials, surveys, textbooks, and other materials used in instruction of their child upon request.

Existing section 3313.60 of the Revised Code is repealed.
