Resolution honors the memory of Carolyn Jean Prentiss, a former Ohio state legislator who represented Cleveland in the Ohio Senate's 21st District and Ohio House's 8th District.

Prentiss championed legislative measures advancing public education fairness, minimum wage increases, and programs addressing food insecurity for children and families.

She served on the State Board of Education and was involved with organizations including the Ohio Cuyahoga Women's Political Caucus, Cleveland Rainbow Coalition, and Westsiders and Eastsiders Let's Come Together.

Prentiss helped establish Policy Matters Ohio, the C.J. Prentiss Emerging Leaders Project, and the Prentiss Charney Teacher Fellows program.

The Senate offers sincere condolences to her family, including her husband Michael Charney, sons Maurice and Albert, and five grandchildren, and directs the Clerk of the Senate to transmit an authenticated copy of the resolution to her family.
