Dogs that injure, seriously injure, or kill a person must be quarantined for 10 days at a county impound facility while the dog warden or law enforcement investigates the incident

Following investigation, authorities must determine whether the dog can be safely released, released with mandatory training/rehabilitation, or should be humanely destroyed based on whether the attack was unprovoked

If authorities find probable cause of an unprovoked attack warranting destruction or conditional release, they must petition the court, which has 10 days to hold a hearing and issue an order

Dog owners may appeal court decisions, and the dog must remain in quarantine throughout all court proceedings and appeals, with quarantine costs paid by the owner

Costs for humane destruction or court-ordered training and rehabilitation are the responsibility of the dog's owner, keeper, or harborer
