County, municipal, and state correctional facilities must provide female inmates experiencing menstruation with free feminine hygiene products (tampons and sanitary napkins) in a variety of sizes based on individualized need, without reprimand

Facilities must establish written policies protecting inmates from denial of products based on race, sex, income status, degree of charge, disability, or other discriminatory factors

Inmates experiencing menstruation must receive a minimum of one shower per day with hot water access, including those in disciplinary separation

Facilities must provide separate lidded disposal containers in designated safe areas for used feminine hygiene products

Access to products and showers may only be denied during emergencies such as riots, escapes, staff shortages, disease outbreaks, natural disasters, or hostage situations
