Original equipment manufacturers must provide documentation, parts, and tools for diagnosis, maintenance, or repair of digital electronic equipment to independent repair providers and device owners on fair and reasonable terms

Manufacturers are prohibited from using parts pairing or other software mechanisms to prevent installation of replacement parts or reduce device functionality when repairs are performed by non-authorized providers

Documentation and software tools must be provided at no charge; physical parts must be offered at costs and terms equivalent to those given to authorized repair providers

Violations constitute unfair or deceptive trade practices enforceable by the Attorney General and through private causes of action under Ohio's Consumer Sales Practices Act

Exemptions apply to motor vehicles, medical devices, farming/forestry equipment, aircraft, watercraft, construction equipment, public utility products, and emergency safety communications equipment
