Health plan issuers prohibited from requiring or inducing healthcare providers to collect copayments, deductibles, and other cost-sharing amounts from patients, effective January 1, 2027

Health plan issuers must make all reimbursements for covered services directly to the healthcare provider rather than requiring point-of-service patient collections

Applies to hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, dentists, pharmacists, chiropractors, and other healthcare providers entitled to insurance reimbursement

Existing contracts entered before January 1, 2027 are exempt unless amended or renewed after that date

Providers may still collect payment for uncovered services and accept cash payments from patients in lieu of insurance reimbursement
