Governmental entities must accept cash payment for any transaction of $500 or less at physical locations, including state agencies, political subdivisions, and their agents

Retail sellers must accept cash for in-person transactions of $500 or less and provide at least one point-of-sale station (automated or staffed) that accepts cash

Sellers and government entities cannot charge higher prices to customers paying with cash compared to other payment methods

Requirements apply only to in-person transactions; telephone, mail, and internet-based transactions are excluded

Airport vendors are exempt from the retail cash acceptance requirements; violations constitute unfair or deceptive trade practices enforceable by the Attorney General with consumer remedies available
