Private insurers must cover telehealth mental health services on the same basis and to the same extent as in-person mental health services, including outpatient services (preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, and palliative interventions)

Health plans cannot exclude coverage solely because a service is provided via telehealth, and cannot impose cost-sharing requirements for telehealth that exceed those for comparable in-person services

No annual or lifetime benefit maximums may be imposed on telehealth services beyond maximums that apply to all plan benefits

Provider-initiated preventive telehealth communications require no cost-sharing when the patient previously consented to telehealth services from that provider

Insurers are not required to reimburse telehealth services at the same rate as in-person services, only to provide equivalent coverage
