Health benefit plans must cover annual behavioral health well checks for children and adults performed by licensed behavioral health professionals, effective for plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2027

No cost-sharing (copays, deductibles) or prior authorization requirements allowed for annual behavioral health well checks, with an exception for health savings account-eligible plans

Behavioral health well checks include medical history review, risk evaluation, validated screening tools, lifestyle counseling, and referrals to ongoing behavioral health services

Coverage cannot be denied when behavioral and physical health services are provided on the same day or at the same facility, and services may be delivered in primary care or integrated care settings

Superintendent of Insurance must adopt rules specifying billing codes and reimbursement requirements, with reimbursement methodology required to be comparable to medical care under federal mental health parity standards
