Ohio's 136th General Assembly formally acknowledges, condemns, and apologizes for the violent displacement of the Randolph Freedpeople—383 formerly enslaved persons freed by John Randolph's 1833 will who were driven from 3,200 acres of purchased land by an armed white mob in 1846

The State of Ohio failed to intervene on behalf of the Freedpeople despite the injustice, and Ohio's "Black Laws" at the time made racial discrimination official state policy

The resolution recognizes the Randolph Freedpeople's significant cultural, social, political, and economic contributions to western Ohio and the state despite being dispossessed of their land

Reaffirms Ohio's commitment to treat all persons with equal respect and fairness

Directs the Clerk of the House to transmit copies of the resolution to Ohio news media
