Ohio's 136th General Assembly urges Congress to designate the Buckeye Trail as a National Scenic Trail upon completion of the National Park Service's feasibility study

The Buckeye Trail is an approximately 1,454-mile loop hiking trail extending from Lake Erie to the Ohio River, passing through northwest Ohio farmland, Appalachian hills, Hocking Hills sandstone cliffs, and southwest Ohio's Bluegrass region

The trail was established in 1959 and is currently administered by the Buckeye Trail Association, a nonprofit organization

The National Park Service is conducting a study to assess whether the trail meets federal designation requirements, with findings to be submitted to the Secretary of the Interior for recommendation to Congress

Copies of the resolution will be transmitted to U.S. Senate and House leadership, Ohio's Congressional delegation, and Ohio news media
