Requires candidates for Ohio State Board of Education and local school district boards of education to appear on the partisan office-type ballot rather than the nonpartisan ballot, with their political party affiliation displayed next to their name

Allows candidates to alternatively request designation as a "nonparty candidate," "other-party candidate," or no designation at all when filing their nominating petition

Removes board of education members from the definition of "nonpartisan candidate" in Ohio election law, shifting these races from nonpartisan to partisan elections

Maintains existing nominating petition signature requirements (25-300 signatures depending on district population for local boards; 100 signatures for state board; 50 signatures for educational service center boards)

Preserves the option for local school boards and educational service center governing boards to adopt nonpartisan primary election procedures by three-fifths majority vote of their membership
