County, township, and municipal zoning authorities are prohibited from restricting the location of public or chartered nonpublic schools in any zoning district, and cannot deny land use applications solely because the applicant seeks to establish a school

School districts must offer unused facilities (not used for one year, or buildings with enrollment below 60% of capacity for two consecutive years) for sale or lease to community schools, STEM schools, college-preparatory boarding schools, and chartered nonpublic schools before selling to other entities

Probate courts must fill school board vacancies if a city, exempted village, or local school district board fails to do so within 30 days; school districts and board members lose immunity from civil liability if the board knowingly directs the superintendent to violate state law

Students enrolled in internet- or computer-based community schools may complete state assessments remotely with online proctoring, subject to specific requirements including video/audio monitoring, 9:1 student-to-proctor ratio, and certified proctors

Organizations and individuals are prohibited from selling or preparing academic work products (term papers, exam responses, dissertations) for students for a fee, with civil penalties up to $5,000 per violation enforceable by the attorney general
