School districts must display at least four founding documents in grades 4-12 history and social studies classrooms, selecting from: the Mayflower Compact, Declaration of Independence, Northwest Ordinance, U.S. and Ohio mottoes, Ten Commandments, Magna Carta, Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution, and Articles of Confederation

Compliance deadline is July 1, 2026, but only applies to districts that receive donated funds or displays to cover costs; districts are not required to use their own funds

Displays must be reasonably visible and include descriptions of historical importance serving an educational purpose; districts may also erect monuments with these documents on school grounds

Requirements extend to community schools (charter schools), STEM schools, and college-preparatory boarding schools, with an exemption for internet- or computer-based community schools

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce must post materials on its website to assist districts with compliance
