U.S. Department of Defense stopped issuing and renewing Civilian Retiree Identification Cards in February 2023 due to the federal REAL ID Act

Retired civilian DoD personnel previously used these cards for easy access to military recreational areas, including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base FamCamp and other camps, parks, and historic sites

Current access requirements now require civilian retirees to request permission from installation commanders and present both a REAL ID-compliant driver's license and retirement documentation

Ohio's 136th General Assembly urges Congress to reissue Civilian Retiree Identification Cards to qualifying DoD retirees and ensure the cards grant access to military recreational areas without additional documentation

Copies of the resolution will be transmitted to the President, congressional leadership, Ohio's congressional delegation, and Ohio news media
