Rutherford B. Hayes Day was established by Senate Bill 21 of the 136th General Assembly, signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine on June 5, 2025

Hayes served as a Union Army Major General during the Civil War, three-term Ohio governor, U.S. House Representative, and 19th President of the United States

Commends the Rutherford B. Hayes Heritage Society and others organizing commemorative events for his birthday

Directs the Clerk of the Senate to transmit authenticated copies to the Hayes Heritage Society and Ohio news media
