OK HB1007

Amends 11 O.S. 2001, Section 36-101A to authorize cities and towns to construct and provide parking spaces, curb cuts, ramps, and signage for physically disabled parking and access at public and private facilities.

Requires all posted signage for physically disabled reserved parking spaces to display sign R7-8 (including "RESERVED PARKING" text and blue/white international symbol of access) beginning January 1, 2010, with van-accessible spaces also displaying sign R7-8a below R7-8.

Permits previously erected signs displaying the blue/white international symbol with language such as "Handicapped Parking," "Reserved for Handicapped," or "Permit Required-Towing Enforced" to continue being used if installed before January 1, 2010.

Requires municipalities to adopt ordinances complying with signage requirements by January 1, 2010, and specifies that provisions serve as additions to existing federal and state parking space regulations.

Becomes effective November 1, 2009.
