HB 2302 Summary

• Amends the Academic Achievement Award (AAA) program to provide monetary awards to qualified employees at school sites meeting specified achievement criteria.

• Establishes four award categories: top-performing school sites in overall student achievement; top-performing school sites in annual improvement; school sites with an average API score of 1,500 or higher; and school sites achieving Gold ($1,000), Silver ($500), or Bronze ($250) performance levels based on three-year average API scores.

• Changes the award distribution deadline from January 31 to March 31 and requires the State Board of Education to prioritize funding allocation across award categories based on available funds.

• Defines qualified employees as certified personnel including teachers, principals, supervisors, administrators, counselors, librarians, and nurses employed at award-winning school sites for at least 85 days of the school year.

• Requires the State Board of Education to annually announce award recipients and post the list of qualifying school sites on the Oklahoma Department of Education's website.

• Effective July 1, 2010, with emergency provisions.
