Taxidermists may sell unclaimed specimens left in their possession for more than 6 months after notifying the owner by telephone that the work is completed

Taxidermists must keep records of the specimen owner's name, address, hunting license number, and other information required by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation

Hunters must be provided a written form at drop-off explaining that unclaimed specimens may be sold after 6 months to recover preparation costs

Sale price cannot exceed the original mounting/preparation cost plus notification expenses, and specimens may only be sold to Oklahoma residents
