Senate Bill 1315 Summary

• Requires the Department of Human Services to replace or reimburse employees for eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices, durable medical equipment, and mobility enhancing equipment damaged by residents while performing duties at specified institutions.

• Expands covered items beyond eyeglasses and contact lenses to include hearing aids, prosthetic devices, durable medical equipment, and mobility enhancing equipment, with terms defined in Section 1357.6 of Title 68 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Applies to employees at Northern Oklahoma Resource Center, Southern Oklahoma Resource Center, Hissom Memorial Center, and other juvenile institutions under Department of Human Services jurisdiction; also covers Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services facilities and the J.D. McCarty Center.

• Prohibits reimbursement for medical examinations necessary for replacement or reimbursement of the covered items.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2010.
