SB 1339 Summary

• Students may substitute an alternative test approved by the State Board of Education after their first unsuccessful attempt on end-of-instruction tests for Algebra I, English II, and two additional required subjects

• Alternative tests for elective subjects must include Southern Regional Education Board-recommended career and technology education examinations that result in business and industry-recognized credentials

• State Board of Education is directed to review and approve additional career and technology examinations meeting criteria it determines

• Technology center schools are authorized to provide intervention and remediation in core academic subjects to enrolled students with school district board approval

• Act becomes effective November 1, 2010
