Senate Bill 1758 Summary

• Prohibits use or connection of automatic dialing or announcing devices to telephone lines unless the subscriber has requested/consented to the message or a live operator obtains consent first.

• Exempts messages from school districts to students, parents, or employees; messages to subscribers with existing business or personal relationships; messages about work schedules; and nonprofit charitable solicitations for clothing donations to disabled veterans.

• Applies to all calls regardless of commercial purpose or whether recipients are on the no-call registry.

• Establishes new section of law codified as Oklahoma Statutes Title 15, Section 775b.8.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
