SB 1766 - Motor Vehicles: Oversized and Overweight Permits

• Authorizes Oklahoma counties to issue permits regulating movement of oversized and overweight vehicles on county highways, with permit requirements and fees established by Board of County Commissioners resolution.

• Requires 100% of permit fees collected by counties to be deposited in a separate county fund designated solely for construction or maintenance of county roads and bridges.

• Provides that one-half of fines from citations issued for size, weight, and load violations shall be deposited in the county's designated fund for road and bridge construction/maintenance, with the remaining half distributed as otherwise required by law.

• Mandates counties to notify the Department of Public Safety and Department of Transportation when authorizing permit requirements; both departments must maintain and disclose a list of permitting counties to applicants.

• Declares an emergency effective date for the act upon passage and approval.
