ENGR. S.B. NO. 1845 - Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2001, Section 11-309 regarding driving on divided roadways and makes language gender neutral by replacing "his" with "or her."

• On roadways with four or more lanes, prohibits vehicles traveling below the posted maximum speed from impeding traffic by driving in the left lane, except when necessary for safe operation.

• On roadways with four or more lanes, requires vehicles to drive in the right-hand lane except when overtaking/passing other vehicles, preparing for a left turn, or when road conditions require use of other lanes for safe traffic.

• Prohibits semitrailers, trailers, and truck trailers from driving in the left-hand lane on four or more lane roadways except when overtaking/passing or preparing for a left turn, with exceptions for road configuration needs.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
