SB1887 Summary

• Amends the Public Competitive Bidding Act to allow public school districts and technology center school districts to satisfy competitive bidding requirements through participation in interlocal joint or cooperative undertakings formed under Section 1004 of Title 74.

• Maintains existing thresholds: contracts over $50,000 require competitive bidding, contracts under $50,000 require written bids, and contracts under $2,500 may be negotiated directly with qualified contractors.

• For public school district property maintenance and repair work specifically, allows negotiated contracts up to $25,000 (instead of $2,500) and requires written bids for contracts between $25,000-$50,000.

• Effective date is November 1, 2010.
