SB1939 Summary

• Oklahoma Department of Commerce shall collaborate with an Oklahoma institution of higher education offering a gunsmith curriculum to develop strategies attracting firearms manufacturers to locate nearby.

• The designated institution of higher education must appoint a liaison to coordinate with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce on recruitment efforts.

• Oklahoma Legislature finds firearms manufacturing qualifies as a manufacturing activity under NAICS Industry Sector 33 and therefore eligible for existing economic incentives under Oklahoma law.

• Oklahoma Department of Commerce and other state agencies responsible for business recruitment shall actively promote existing economic incentives to firearms manufacturers as inducement to relocate to Oklahoma.

• Act becomes effective November 1, 2010.
