SB1944 Summary

• Prohibits picketing and protest activities within 500 feet of any elementary or secondary school property during school hours, official school activities, or within 30 minutes before/after school starts or dismissal.

• Establishes misdemeanor offense with penalties of up to $500 fine, up to 30 days in county jail, or both.

• Authorizes district courts to enjoin prohibited conduct and award damages including punitive damages, attorney fees, and other appropriate relief.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
