SB 1979 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma workers' compensation law (85 O.S. 2001, Section 12) to clarify and reorganize existing exemptions to employer liability immunity.

• Renumbers existing provisions from Roman numerals (i-v) to numbered paragraphs (1-5) without substantive changes to the law.

• Maintains existing protections allowing injured workers to sue other employers on the same job site under certain circumstances involving principal/intermediate employer relationships.

• Clarifies that architects, professional engineers, and land surveyors are deemed intermediate or principal employers on construction projects but maintains immunity for site-performed services while excluding immunity for negligent design work.

• Effective November 1, 2010.
