SB 1981 Summary

• Creates new misdemeanor offense for uploading videos or digital images of assault and battery involving at least one minor to publicly accessible websites via the Internet.

• Person uploading must have known or should have known that one or more parties involved was a minor, or the person assisted in conducting the assault and battery.

• Conviction results in misdemeanor punishment with fine of up to $750.00 per offense.

• Exempts media employees acting within their employment responsibilities and persons whose recordings are used in cooperation with law enforcement investigations.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
