OK SB2017

Amends 70 O.S. 2001, Section 3311 to modify the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) composition from 9 members to 13 members with specific appointment authorities including representatives from tribal law enforcement, municipalities, sheriffs' associations, and higher education.

Establishes that any peace officer whose certification has been revoked, suspended, or voluntarily surrendered must pay a $150.00 reinstatement fee into the CLEET Peace Officer Revolving Fund to apply for reinstatement.

Requires basic police academy courses to include a minimum of four hours of training in recognizing and managing persons requiring mental health treatment, crime and drug prevention, crisis intervention, youth and family intervention, and criminal jurisdiction on sovereign Indian land.

Sets minimum academy hour requirements based on graduation dates: 375 hours through December 31, 2007; 505 hours through June 30, 2008; 576 hours through June 30, 2009; and 600 hours for academies graduating after July 1, 2009.

Becomes effective November 1, 2010.
