OK SB2038

Amends Oklahoma law (20 O.S. 2001, Sections 1503 and 1505) regarding court reporter certification and licensing requirements.

Adds requirement that applicants demonstrate minimum court reporting proficiency through verification from a court reporting school, passing a preliminary proficiency examination, or holding a previous state or national shorthand reporting certificate or license.

Removes the residency requirement for individuals holding an out-of-state license or national certification to be enrolled as an Oklahoma certified shorthand reporter without examination.

Maintains existing examination requirements including Part 1 (proficiency testing at 200 words per minute for question-and-answer dictation and 180 words per minute for literary materials) and Part 2 (Oklahoma Written Knowledge test on state law, court rules, and court procedure).

Effective date: November 1, 2010.
