SB 2055 Summary

• Modifies the Academic Achievement Award (AAA) program to expand eligibility for "qualified employees" to include part-time certified personnel employed at least one-half of the school year, with pro-rata award payments based on employment duration

• Includes administrative and instructional personnel at charter schools as qualified employees regardless of certification status, and expands coverage for early elementary schools using test data from tested grade levels

• Maintains existing award structure with monetary awards to employees at top four performing schools in each ADM group, top four schools with highest annual improvement, and all schools achieving an API score of 1,500

• Effective date changed to July 1, 2010 with emergency clause for immediate enactment upon passage and approval
