Changes "this state" to "Oklahoma" in the curriculum standards language for public schools

Requires students entering ninth grade in 2006-07 school year or later to complete a college preparatory/work ready curriculum with 4 units of English, 3 units of mathematics, 3 units of laboratory science, 3 units of history and citizenship skills, 2 units of foreign language or computer technology, 1 additional unit from specified subjects, and 1 unit of fine arts or speech

Allows students and parents to opt into a core curriculum (for students entering 9th grade after 2005-06) upon written parental approval, requiring consultation with school officials

Permits schools to offer qualified courses including concurrent enrollment, advanced placement, correspondence courses, and career/technology programs with flexibility in course titles while maintaining academic rigor

Becomes effective November 1, 2010
