SB 2157 Summary

• Prohibits health insurers from denying policy renewal except for non-payment of premiums or willfully fraudulent statements by the applicant.

• Prevents insurers from treating medical conditions for which an individual received actual medical care as pre-existing conditions at the time of policy renewal.

• Defines "pre-existing condition" as conditions for which an individual has received actual medical care.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2010.
