SB 2180 Summary

• Creates the Roofing Contractor Registration Act requiring all roofing contractors in Oklahoma to register with the Construction Industries Board before engaging in roofing business.

• Establishes registration requirements including minimum $500,000 liability insurance, workers' compensation coverage, application fee not to exceed $300, and annual renewal by June 30.

• Makes operating as an unregistered roofing contractor a misdemeanor punishable by fine not exceeding $500; allows suspension or revocation of registration for violations, false information, or failure to maintain insurance.

• Designates the Secretary of State as legal service agent for nonresident roofing contractors; requires registration number on all permits and business materials; establishes complaint and investigation procedures.

• Creates the Roofing Contractor Registration Revolving Fund to be funded by application, renewal, and late fees for administration of the act; effective November 1, 2010.
