Charter schools sponsored by boards of education of school districts receive state aid revenue generated by their students, minus up to 5% retained by the district for administrative services.

Charter schools sponsored by technology center school districts or higher education institutions are designated as local education agencies for funding purposes.

Charter schools sponsored by school districts are designated as local education agencies for purposes of federal funding.

First-year charter schools calculate weighted average daily membership by multiplying actual August 1 enrollment by 1.333, with midyear adjustments based on first quarter membership.
