SB2255 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. Section 843.5 to clarify that "other person" in child abuse provisions includes persons offering foster care services as defined in Title 10A, Section 1-1-105 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Extends criminal liability for child abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation to foster care providers who willfully or maliciously engage in or enable such conduct against children.

• Maintains existing penalties for child abuse offenses including imprisonment up to life and fines from $500 to $5,000.

• Effective July 1, 2010, with emergency clause declaring immediate effectiveness upon passage and approval.
