SB 2277 Summary

• Amends 36 O.S. 2001, Section 305 to make language gender neutral regarding the Insurance Commissioner's authority to appoint staff.

• Changes references from "his" to "or her" when describing the Insurance Commissioner's duties and the attorneys' role in representing the office.

• Allows the Insurance Commissioner to appoint deputies, assistants, examiners, actuaries, attorneys, and other employees as necessary to carry out duties under the Insurance Code.

• Maintains existing provisions regarding conflicts of interest for Commissioner employees and permits hiring of independent insurance actuaries and retired insurance personnel.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
