SB 2279 Summary

• Amends 5 O.S. 2001, Section 18 to make language gender-neutral by replacing masculine pronouns with "he or she" throughout the inactive attorney status provisions.

• Allows attorneys in good standing to apply for inactive status without practice requirements.

• Inactive members pay only 20% of annual dues, are exempt from continuing legal education requirements, and do not receive Oklahoma Bar Journal or Association services.

• Attorneys may reactivate by paying one year's annual dues and completing one year of mandatory continuing legal education.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
