SB 2300 Summary

• Creates new law prohibiting issuance or renewal of driver licenses, identification cards, and motor vehicle registrations to individuals with outstanding warrants from Oklahoma state or municipal courts that have been reported to the Department of Public Safety.

• Requires motor license agents to check the Department of Public Safety database for outstanding warrants before issuing initial or renewal motor vehicle registrations and driver licenses/identification cards.

• Directs motor license agents to refer applicants with outstanding warrants to the Department of Public Safety, which shall notify applicants of procedures to satisfy or recall the warrant.

• Permits the Department of Public Safety to certify in writing that an application may proceed once proof is provided that the arrest warrant has been recalled or satisfied.

• Effective date: November 1, 2010.
