Students enrolled in online courses or programs offered by a school district or charter school outside their district of residence must be provided the opportunity to take required tests at State Board of Education-approved alternative testing locations.

Alternative testing locations may include technology center school sites or other locations selected by the school district or charter school offering the online course or program, and must be subject to testing location rules promulgated by the State Board of Education.

School districts or charter schools offering online courses or programs are responsible for all costs associated with providing alternative testing locations and administering tests at those locations.

Districts or charter schools must provide at least six geographically dispersed alternative testing locations, with minimum coverage of each state quadrant and both metropolitan areas in the state, with additional locations permitted as needed.

The act becomes effective November 1, 2010.
