Star Spencer High School Bobcats won the 2009 Class 4A State Football Championship, defeating Frederick Douglass High School Trojans 34-21 at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.

This was the first state football championship won by an Oklahoma City public school in 15 years, ending a drought since 1995.

The Bobcats recovered from an early season loss (34-28) to compile a 12-2 record with an 11-game winning streak to capture the state title.

Star Spencer has appeared in state football semifinals four times in the previous ten years and holds eight state titles in boys basketball.

The Oklahoma Senate directs that copies of this resolution be distributed to Head Coach Darrell Hall and Principal Christopher Gardner of Star Spencer High School.
